Karachi Board decided additional five marks all Class IX students
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on the directives of the Sindh governor – who is also the controlling authority of all the public sector educational boards of the province – has decided to award additional five marks to all those Class IX students who will appear in the mock test scheduled to be held on March 25.
According to an official handout issued by BSEK secretary Hoor Mazhar, the decision to award additional five marks to the Class IX science group students who will take the mock examination has been taken on the directives of Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad and those students who will remain absent from the mock test will be deprived of the additional five marks.
The mock test will be of English subjects and held from 9 am to 12 noon.
Around 139,000 candidates are enrolled for the test which will be conducted at 170 examination centers set up in all the major government and private non-controversial and reputed schools of all the 18 towns of the metropolis.
Meanwhile, the BSEK chairman’s three-member team along with a Sindh governor’s representative on Monday visited two major examination centres set up in Gulshan-I-Iqbal Town to see the arrangements made for the mock test.

Superintendents of the examination centres were also apprised of the importance of the test and its positive impact on the arrangements to be made for the forthcoming Secondary School Certificate (Class IX and X) annual examinations- scheduled to commence on April 18.
Answering a question as to why office-bearers of a few private schools management associations were opposing the mock test, a senior official of the BSEK said that such a hue and cry was being raised by certain elements having their vested interest and those whose schools had not been made centres for the coming SSC annual examinations.
